Former St. John?s and NBA star Chris Mullin, a native New Yorker, has played at Madison Square Garden, Manhattan?s biggest basketball stage. Now, he will literally hit the big stage ? Broadway.
No, the retired guard, fired executive and current ESPN broadcaster is not going to act, but he?s going to help those who are performing in the musical comedy ?Lysistrata Jones? with their basketball skills.
The play is about women ? cheerleaders and girlfriends ? who withhold sex from members of a basketball team until they win a game. Pro Basketball Talk does a good job of explaining its derivation, the Greek classic ?Lysistrata,? in which female companions of Greek soldiers similarly withhold sex to end the Peloponnesian war.
