Ah, DOS. That old, steady friend. I?m not exactly sure what DOS did, since I only used it as a youngster. But I do remember one thing specifically: DOS was the window to my early gaming library. Yes, gaming youngsters may not remember the joy of typing directories into the DOS prompt, but we certainly do. It was, in fact, the only way to get many classic games to run.

DOS games still exist. And, you can still download them and run them on your computer, most of the time for free. Or, you can go RGB Classic Games, which hosts nearly 300 DOS-based classics that run entirely from your browser. I?ve been playing Alone in the Dark for the better part of an hour now, instead of getting work done.?
New games are great. But even in this modern time of motion control, HD and ?hyper-realism,? it?s fun to take a walk down memory lane. Especially if you can do it from the comfort of your cubicle.
