The Tomatoes are in and Tomato Fest is coming.? We are all geared up and looking forward to an extraordinary event!!!!! The 28th Annual Tomato Fest will kick off on Saturday, June 9th, at 9am in downtown Jacksonville on Commerce and Austin Streets. This family fun day will go on all day long with activities that are sure to please everyone?.there are arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment all day, Fishing Tournament, Kiwanis Live Auction, Gospel Concert, Salsa Contest, Motorcycle Show, Texas Lottery Spinning Wheel, Best Home Grown Tomato Contest, a Got Talent Contest, Antique Car Show, Tomato Shoot, Farmers Market, Tomato Peeling Contest, Tomato Mashing Contest, and the famous Celebrity Tomato Eating Contest. The day will end at Chili?s Street Dance featuring Reagan Johnson and Lady Chazz & the Tramps.?
Added excitement are the concrete tomatoes displayed at various businesses and residents.? Jacksonville?s 665 lb. tomatoes are dressed to impress.? Jacksonville ISD?s tomato represents our famous fightin? Indians.
New this year is a photo contest sponsored by Superior Health Plan. Seeking various photos that represents the Tomato Fest and Jacksonville.? A total of $1000 prize will be awarded.? Submission date is due by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 15th. Visit website for additional details.
